1:1 Design coaching

Approach design as an investment, not an expense.

In 90 minutes, we'll surface your biggest design challenges, and discover the best path forward within your budget.

Tesla embodies the personal design decisions of Elon Musk. Schmidt Naturals embodies the unique essence of Jamie Schmidt.

These founders understand how their values and aesthetic difference create a distinct competitive advantage, because they embrace their values throughout their business.

Design is not the only thing that matters in business, but it's essential in how you communicate trust and build a relationship through that visual experience.

If you're not building consistent design decisions that compound over time, you're doing it wrong.

I'll help you take a birds eye view of your brand assets, spotting holes in where we could improve your investment in the overall design process, whether it's product, marketing, or sales.

Book HI-FI Design Coaching Call
Paul Millerd
"I've been working on my own for almost five years and I had an embarrassingly complex and overwhelming number of images, sites, themes, fonts, and Canva images I was using.  In less than two hours, Nate helped me rethink design from a bottom-up perspective, helping me think about color, fonts, and what I'm trying to convey in a way that really helped me unlock a new way of seeing and having confidence in making design decisions moving forward."

Why a design discovery?

Discovery calls are vital to examine your design needs and to prioritize what to work on first.

I am not here to pitch my own services, but to help you discover the best path forward. In many cases, I am not the best person for the job.

Consider our chat like the Progressive Insurance of design calls. No hard-selling, but I'll point you in the best direction.

What are the most important design decisions you should make? What will have the greatest impact? What do I really think about your marketing materials?

It's not always your home page, but it could be your about page, slide deck, your overall identity, landing pages, or your ad creative.

I'll hand-hold you through this exploration, with a budget of any size. Ego is taken out of the process. I am not opposed to recommending a 3rd party solution like Fiverr, another professional designer, or an agency.

Design should be treated as an investment in your business, whether you're a business of one or 50.

What to expect from our discovery call

Design touches everything from your brand experience, products, marketing, sales, ads, and how we organize and communicate with each other in-house.

During the call, we'll dissect your existing materials, and explore how to make the most impactful design decisions.

We'll push the boundaries of what's working, and discover what's not.

After the call, you'll receive a list of recommendations based on your timeline, budget, and strategy. The cost to produce and implement will also be broken down, so you have a better idea of what to expect.

Design ROI

Design should be treated an investment, not an expense. You should expect an ROI on the money you spend improving your brand experience or marketing.

You shouldn't spend countless days on what font should be used. (And I love fonts!)

It's not difficult to find designers who only care about how beautiful a design is, instead of your business. Whether you're a creator looking to build an audience, or a company of 10+, design can be applied in a way that's pushing people away.

I'll help you discover potential pitfalls in your business at the design level, without the ego.

About Nate Kadlac

There's a couple of things I believe to be true: Design is not magic, and minimalism is boring.

Your brand experience needs to connect with your customer at a deeper level—and to get there—design needs to see the light of day as it evolves.

Gone are the days of the designer hiding in the closet, pulling the final version out like they just pulled rabbit out of a hat.

Throughout my 17+ year career as a brand and product designer, I have worked with Fortune 500 companies and early stage startups.

I have seen countless times where design is rushed, or slapped together quickly without getting input.

I can easily pinpoint the leaky holes of your design projects, and bring an objective viewpoint to demystify design.

I have helped entrepreneurs design pitch decks that have gone on to raise millions of dollars.

And, I am a writer, online teacher, and designer on paper—and at heart.

I'll help you discover potential pitfalls in your business at the design level, without the ego.
